Malawi has over 1 million people infected with HIV and an estimated 25,000 people living with cancer. Malawians with HIV/AIDS, cancer and other life-threatening illnesses urgently need affordable, culturally appropriate, safe and consistent holistic palliative care. (National AIDS Commission, 2003).
